Updates: AFM and Flight Lessons

October has been full of blessings as I reflect on what God has done this month. As I mentioned in last month's newsletter, we got to take a trip to Adventist Frontier Mission's (AFM) headquarters in Michigan. This was a wonderful experience full of blessings, fun, and learning. We attended seminars by AFM's mission trainers. We had the opportunity to learn about sharing our testimonies, church planting, donor ministry, spiritual warfare, prayer, media and missions, and linguistics. We even simulated cross-cultural mission work. The week came to a pleasant close with a Sabbath afternoon stop at Lake Michigan, along with some outreach in the community. Overall, the week brought me closer to God and gave me more skills to use for Him.

A few weeks later, we finished installing a new battery in our Cessna 172, along with some other minor maintenance. It was so nice to be back flying after the plane was down for a while. We flew to Shawnee, a local airport, where we practiced landings, takeoffs, general maneuvers, and radio calls. Making calls on the radio is intimidating, fun, and satisfying when you finally get it right! A basic call is stating who you are, where you are, and where you're headed. So when I'm on final for runway 17, I'd say, "Shawnee traffic, Skyhawk 54036 on final for runway 17 Shawnee." The first few times, I kept making mistakes, but I kept going until I got it. This reminds me of a spiritual lesson. When I seek to follow Jesus, I make many mistakes. But what's important is not so much that I made a mistake, but that I respond by getting back up and continue following Jesus. Even though failing is discouraging and often embarrassing, I need to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. Let's work on keeping our eyes focused on Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith!

Thank you for reading these thoughts. I appreciate your prayers and support. I am still working on developing sponsorship, so if you feel that God is impressing you to support His work at Oklahoma Academy, please prayerfully consider becoming a monthly sponsor. I thank God for all of you who support us in your prayers, as well as financially. It is encouraging to me to see how God uses His people to further His work. It's so exciting that we can be a part of His work too! If any of you have a prayer request, please feel free to contact me. Our mission track team would be delighted to pray for you! Looking forward to updating you once again next month, about what God has and is doing.

Blessings,

Micah

We're so proud of you, Micah, and so thankful that you have this wonderful opportunity to learn to fly so you can be a mission pilot one of these days! Grammy
