Riding an elephant on my Senior class trip to India!
Hey guys! First off, my apologies for not sending out a March newsletter! I try my best to keep you informed but I was so busy with my senior class trip to India, a chorale trip to Belize, and many school projects. I'm still super busy finishing up academically for my graduation and trying desperately to complete my Private Pilot's License.
You probably already know that I've been able to log quite a few flight hours lately. I'm at around 56 hours, and extremely close to checkride. I've been tirelessly studying questions for the oral exam and tabbing up my reference FAR/AIM book (Federal Aviation Regulations/Aviation Information Manual). After completing a bit more training with my instructor and practicing for 2-5 more hours in the air, I should qualify for check-ride. However, we are still trying to find a DPE (designated pilot examiner) who will be able to perform the checkride.
Unfortunately, our aircraft is suffering significant issues with the left fuel tank, resulting in fuel leakage, and ultimately, our plane being grounded. We're continuing to try to fix the tank, but are also ordering a new one. Currently, we're looking at a time frame of at least 3 weeks before our airplane will be able to continue flight training. This is quite discouraging as I am praying and hoping to check-ride before graduation, leaving my summer free for other plans. We can trust God though, and He knows best. Please join me in praying that if it is His will, this process be expedited. I know that the God we serve is big, and can totally do this if He sees best. Thank you for your prayers and support!
Recently, I was quite discouraged over this whole dilemma. One evening, I prayed that God would somehow encourage me and show me how He is still with me. The next day, I received a letter from an old friend, telling me how proud and happy they were that I was pursuing a life of mission service. It was so encouraging! I realized that if God cared enough for that letter to be sent at the right time and get to me at the right time, He knows my future. He knows every plan, every setback, and every victory. I'm so glad we serve a God who cares about the little things!
Thank you again for being a part of this journey. I know that if it is God's will, I will check-ride soon and be ready to launch to Alaska as a mission pilot. Please pray for me and my team as we work through these issues. As always, please let me know if there is any way we could pray for you. Have a blessed week!
Micah
Note: My organization is transferring donations to a new platform called Give Butter (funny name). The old link will still work, but in the future, it will be easier if you use the new platform at this link: https://givebutter.com/MissionAviation. Please let me know if you have any issues transitioning. Thanks!
Prayer Requests:
For me to be ready for check-ride soon!
For our aircraft's maintenance.
For us to find a DPE willing/available to help us complete a checkride.
For Dillingham, Alaska, and the surrounding villages as we prepare to share Christ's love there next year!
Hi Micah,
Pr Ben here, you look great on the elephant! Praying for you! Will be more consistent in supporting financially. Blessings!
