After 3 years, it is time to post the final update on this blog! Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and financial support over the last 3 years. I appreciate your partnership from helping me earn my private pilot's license to launching me to Alaska as a mission pilot. God has blessed me in so many ways, and I've enjoyed sharing the journey with each of you.
The last few months have been quiet without flying but enjoyable. I had the opportunity to plan several field trips for my school kids to the local airport. It was special to show them different airplanes and see their imaginations light up as they sat in different cockpits. Our local church also decided to perform a passion play for the community over the Easter weekend. I got to be a Roman soldier and help "crucify" my friend Lincoln, who played Jesus. It was a lot of fun and also helped us realize how much Jesus was willing to suffer for us. The rest of my activities over the last few months consisted of teaching at the school, preaching sermons, helping with Pathfinders, and fixing a quad for a church member. It's been an amazing experience living in Dillingham, and I am looking forward to finishing training so I can be a full-time mission pilot.
For the last several years, I've worried, theorized, and prayed about how I'd afford flight school and higher education. Since I desire to serve as a volunteer mission pilot in areas that generally can't afford my services, college debt isn't a feasible answer. As I mentioned a few months ago though, God has opened some incredible doors for me to attend flight school and college at Pacific Union College. In February, I learned that PUC offered a significant discount for mission pilots pursuing flight training. Needless to say, I excitedly turned in a college application and seriously began thinking of attending. I was a bit less excited to learn that each year of college costs around $45K! Even after significant scholarships were applied, the total still came out to more than I could realistically afford. As I was praying for guidance, I received an unexpected email inviting me to apply for a full tuition scholarship!! I never imagined my grades were high enough to receive a full ride! I eagerly sent in the scholarship application and nervously waited for a reply. Last week, I received an email congratulating me as a recipient of a full tuition scholarship, renewable for up to 4 years! Praise the Lord! I would have never dreamed of receiving this scholarship, but God is so good. I can honestly say that working for the Lord was the best decision I've ever made. He is so faithful and has never failed me!
Thanks again for being a part of this ministry over the last few years. I hope that these newsletters have been a blessing to you and helped you feel directly a part of our mission work. I will no longer need any more donations/financial support as I head off to college. If you follow me on social media, I will continue to post occasional updates there on my flight training. If you aren't on social media and would like to stay in touch, send me an email or reply to this newsletter. May God bless you as you've blessed me.
In service together,
Micah Grady
