Warren, Lincoln, Pr. Todd, and I flew over to Togiak for a communion service!

The short month of fall has speedily past, and winter will soon be upon us! Fall has given us beautiful flying weather, and has given us the opportunity to use aviation to share the light of the gospel in several remote Alaskan villages! I’m sorry to get this newsletter to you a bit late, but I hope you will enjoy these two stories of how God’s used us!

Excerpt from my Facebook post, September 29, 2024

“Earlier this week, when Pr. Todd Parker reminded me that we were supposed to give him a flight to Togiak on Sabbath, I laughed. The weather was forecasted to be rainy, complete with low visibilities and clouds. However, we moved forward with flight planning as if we would be able to make the flight. On Friday we completed our weight and balance checks and siphoned some of the fuel. The flight would be performed at max gross weight so we asked a friend in Togiak to store some fuel for us for the return trip. Sabbath morning, the weather still looked awful. During church, the morning jet with Alaska Airlines made several go arounds and returned to Anchorage without landing due to weather. After church, the weather still reported IFR-MVFR (instrument to marginal visual). Lincoln and I still headed out to the airplane to preflight and prepare for the trip. We continued to pray and as we were at the airport, we literally watched the sky clear on the west side. After another check on the weather, we were able to take off, dodge a bit of weather and make the 40 minute flight over to Togiak! It was a real blessing for the church to have Pr. Todd there for communion since this would be his last Sabbath in Dillingham. Afterwards, we rode a 4 wheeler back, fueled up the plane and prayed for a church member’s house. The flight back was beautiful, and we were able to cruise over the mountains at 4,500. As we arrived safely in Dillingham, it was cool to see the clouds, and weather lingering on the east side. This was one of the most rewarding flights I’ve taken and it was such a blesssing to see God clear the weather before our eyes! Thanks for all the prayers and please continue to pray for the work in Togiak!”

Rode the quad to the plane to refuel

Since then, we also managed to fly over to the nearby village of Clark’s point. Our initial plan was to fly a friend over on Friday to spend time with his family, and visit on Sunday for a Bible study. I was tasked with making the flight, but the weather proved to be challenging. The winds and visibilities continued to caution against taking the flight but later on in the day, they improved. I was able to take-off in Dillingham, but by the time I arrived at Clark’s Point, the weather had deterioted. Attempting landing there would result in surpassing the plane’s max demonstrated crosswind by several knots. Although I desperately wanted to be able to land so our friend could see his family, I knew that safety had to come first. Sadly, I turned the plane back towards Dillingham where we still managed a safe landing where the winds were calmer. Later that evening, Warren attempted the flight again, but was forced to return due to deterioting weather conditions. Finally, on Sabbath afternoon, the weather lifted, and we had a beautful flight over. The following day, we flew over and had an engaging Bible study with the family! Overall, I was so thankful for God’s protection and the opportunity to share the gospel!

Off to Clark’s Point! (Beautiful weather this time)

Besides flying I’ve had the opportunity to do some preaching as well as help out with some youth ministry. Please pray for us as we are starting a bi-weekly young adult vespers. Thank you so much for your prayers and being apart of this mission. I am so thankful for your financial support that makes this work possible! Please continue to pray that we may faithfully continue the work of spreading the gospel here in bush Alaska!

In service together,

Micah
