Flying officially requires de-icing now!

I’m sure many of you have been enjoying fall colors, but up here in Alaska, we’ve already had some significant snowfall! Lincoln and I have been enjoying our snowmobiles and adjusting to winter flying! We’ve had several successful ministry opportunities that I’m excited to share about!

Last week, we decided to take a flight to Togiak again for a singspiration vespers. A singspiration is basically an opportunity for anyone and everyone to take turns sharing music. After prepping the plane, we had a beautiful evening flight over. Mr. Downs was able to log some instrument time under the hood, while I acted as safety pilot. The singspiration was a blessing and I was able to help play piano. Afterwards, we enjoyed supper with the church and had the opportunity to get acquainted with some of the church members.

A few days ago, as I was leaving the church in the early morning, I ended up in a snowy ditch! The glare of headlights on the drifted snow deceived me into thinking the ditch was the road! As I struggled to try to get myself out, a truck pulled up. To my surprise, I saw my friend Issac! We often give Issac flights to a neighboring village to see his family as well as have bible studies together. Issac cheerfully greeted me and proceeded to help me out of the ditch. As he mentioned how happy he was to help us out with something after all we’d done for him, it reminded me how such a small flight makes a big difference. Just the short 10 minute flight we give him every few weeks has built us a friendship that enables us to share the gospel!

This month we also had a community skate night! It was a lot of fun and gave us a chance to meet the community and make connections. Thanks to all who helped donate skates for this event!

Also this month we began helping out at the church school as assistant teachers since the head teacher left. Thank you for making all this ministry possible! Thank you for continuing to pray for us as we seek to find ways to share the gospel!

In service together,

Micah
